New Dart Dirt Racing Series to Bring Oval Track Action to Northeast

Troy, MI: The dirt will be flying when the new Dart Dirt Racing Series kicks off in 2007. Spotlighting the popular Northeastern Modifieds, the Dart Dirt Racing Series plans to run 30 events at six tracks in the Northeastern U.S.
The Dart Dirt Racing Series will reward grassroots racers with a $50,000 points fund. A victory in the 358 Iron Head class will earn $2500 per race, and winners in the Sportsman and Street Stock classes will receive $800 and $400 respectively. The payout will include the top 26 cars in each division.
"The Dart Dirt Racing Series is intended to bring competitive, exciting, and affordable racing back to the Northeast," said Dart general manager Ted Keating. "Dart's roots are in sportsman racing, and we strongly support local and regional series. We believe the Dart Dirt Racing Series will be good news for racers, fans, engine builders and track operators."
Manufacturers that have already committed to supporting the Dart Dirt Racing Series include Afco/Dynatech, ARP, Autometer, Bilstein, Comp Cams, Edelbrock, Moroso, MSD Ignition, Total Seal, and Wilwood. Additional sponsors and the 2007 schedule will be announced in the near future.
The Dart Dirt Racing Series focuses on affordable racing classes that use small-block engines with cast-iron cylinder heads. To encourage innovation and competition among engine builders, racers will not be restricted to "spec" cylinder heads or sealed crate engines.
"We know that there are race cars throughout the Northeast that should be out on the track instead of sitting in workshops and garages," said Keating. "With common-sense rules, a $50,000 points fund, and an attractive purse for every event, the Dart Dirt Racing Series is intended to spur a rebirth of local racing. If the formula is successful, we foresee expanding the concept to other areas in the future."
