This month's feature : Circle Track
Circle Track
Well, the sun is out and the tracks are open in most of the country. The teams are in the garage getting ready for another great season on the open track circuit. Whether you are running on your local dirt track or on asphalt you are getting ready for another battle of a season. For the majority of racers all they want to do is get out and run for the love of the sport; however they all dream of ending up in the same place, NASCAR.
The day of true "stock cars" are gone, however there is a new car out on the track. The Car of Tomorrow...or technically; The Car of Today! This has been a long step in the waiting, years of testing have gone on to bring this car to the track and it is finally here. Safety was the biggest concern when the design of this car was introduced. The car is now wider and taller then the previous vehicle. The driver seat has been moved closer to the center as well as the roll cage moved further back into the car to help with side impacts. Also, driver comfort was taken into consideration, the exhaust system has been rerouted in order to provide less heat in the cabin. However, with all these improvements the car is slower, and intentionally at that. The car is not as aerodynamic and can not slip through air like the previous vehicle. But it was all done for safety of the competitors and the overall competition.
Since grassroots racing is influenced by the big competitions, it will be interesting to see what the Car of Tomorrow brings to the grassroots network. I wish you all of luck this season, and to those trying to get to the "Big Show"...Godspeed and hit that throttle hard!
