Six-second barrier shattered as Hines posts 6.991-second pass on his Harley
Reigning POWERade champion Andrew Hines has become the first Pro Stock Motorcycle rider in NHRA history to record a six-second pass. Hines took advantage of exceptional conditions Friday afternoon at Gainesville Raceway to zoom down the quarter-mile in 6.991 seconds at 196.16 mph, which earned him a permanent place in the history books as well as $10,000 from Mickey Thompson.
Track records have been set in three of the four professional categories. Aside from Hines' historic double-dip in Pro Stock Motorcycle, Doug Kalitta used a 4.481 at 331.85 mph to reset the Gainesville Top Fuel marks, while Greg Anderson blazed to a 6.649 at 207.32 mph to lead Pro Stock.
