This month's feature: Good Guys 5th Del Mar Nationals
After the soaking that Southern California got this past winter, there was just something about the warming climate and clear blue skies that made us all here at StreetPerformance.com itch to get outside, get some fresh air and get together... and personally, nothing beats a great car show to get it all in.
How fortunate for us that the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association held its 5th Annual Del Mar Nationals the first weekend of April this year. The So Cal weather didn't disappoint with temps around 80 degrees and blue skies as far as the eye could see. Strolling around the Del Mar Fairgrounds, basking in both the sun and the view of the nearly 2,000 cars was just what the doctor ordered to quell the spring fever.
In the sea of all those beautiful custom rods from all over Western US, the selection committee for the 2005 Goodguys Street Rod d'Elegance Award presented by Eagle One had the unenviable task of selecting only one winner. This year's winner was Jim and Nancy Morgan's 1940 Ford Opera Coupe from Richmond, California.
